Kampweg officially opened
On Thursday, 26 March, the moment had finally arrived: the Kampweg was officially opened! Under the supervision of Alderman Tom van Mourik, Finn Kiewiet cut the ribbon with a large pair of scissors. Finn is the great-grandson of Mr Pé de Lang, who in 1964 opened the then new, three-metre-wide asphalt road. He did so by driving through the ribbon with the vacuum truck from the Stortemelk campsite. Previously, the Kampweg had been a shell path.
After this opening ceremony, all those present cycled along the Kampweg towards De Ankerplaats. The schoolchildren from De Jutter received a practical 'blind spot' training session from Dutch Traffic Safety (Veilig Verkeer Nederland) along the way at the football field, for which a truck was on standby.
Afterwards, they too proceeded to the spot where cake and lemonade were ready.
