From 18 February, residents of the municipality of Vlissingen can complete the StemWijzer to receive voting assistance when choosing for the municipal elections on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. The statements in this StemWijzer address topics that are current in our municipality and important to our residents.
Municipal themes
With the StemWijzer, voters gain insight into the key themes in local politics. Based on 30 statements about municipal themes, residents can compare their own positions with those of political parties in our municipality. Topics include housing construction, parking, and local taxes. Mayor B. van den Tillaar: "Our municipal council considers it important to make this StemWijzer available to our residents. These municipal elections are truly about something; the topics directly affect our residents. As a municipal council, we find it crucial to involve them as much as possible in these elections. That is what our local democracy deserves."
Statements
The statements were developed following an interactive workshop in December 2025. Representatives of political parties participating in these elections in our municipality discussed which topics and current issues are important for our municipality of Vlissingen. They did so together with ProDemos, the creator of the StemWijzer. This input forms the basis of the current StemWijzer.

StemWijzer is the most widely used voting aid in the Netherlands. It was also launched for other municipalities on 18 February. In Vlissingen, a paid version of the StemWijzer was chosen, allowing it to be interactive and incorporate input from political parties.
