Municipality to install eight new paper collection containers
In early January, the municipality announced its intention to install underground containers at eight locations in Voorschoten for the collection of waste paper and cardboard. Since the municipality did not receive any objections from stakeholders, it decided to definitively designate the eight locations.
In the Raw Materials Plan 2021-2025, the municipal council decided to optimize the collection of waste paper and cardboard in high-rise buildings. Based on this decision, the municipality is installing eight new underground collection containers. “This expands the offer by nearly 30 percent,” says alderman Hubert Schokker. “This makes it easier for residents to dispose of waste paper and cardboard while also saving valuable raw materials.”
Selection criteria
When selecting the eight locations, the municipality considered the underground infrastructure with cables and pipes, trees and parking spaces, walking distances for residents, visibility of the location, accessibility for waste collection vehicles, existing containers and locations for other waste and raw materials, as well as the coverage and distribution of underground collection containers for waste paper and cardboard across the municipality.
Work scheduled for April and May
The new underground containers will be installed at the following locations: corner of Frans Halsplantsoen and Johannes Vermeerplantsoen, corner of Jan Steenlaan and Rembrandtlaan, corner of Koperwieklaan and Zwaluwweg, corner of Kramsvogelerf and Zwaluwweg, Hofvliet, Vlietzicht, Jan van Goyenplantsoen and Aletta Jacobsplantsoen. Residents may experience minor inconvenience in April and May, such as ground vibrations and the noise of an excavator.
