Scout begins talks for new coalition
Kernachtig Wijchen emerged as the largest party in the municipal council elections. They have asked Jos van der Knaap to serve as an independent scout to explore which parties are willing to cooperate in a new municipal administration. Following his advice, the coalition formation process will begin. The agreements made by the coalition will be recorded in a coalition agreement. The parties will then nominate their candidate aldermen. The municipal council will vote on these nominations. Once appointed, the aldermen, together with the mayor, will form the executive board of mayor and aldermen.
The current executive board will remain in place until the new aldermen have been appointed.
High turnout
In Wijchen, 34,248 residents were eligible to vote. The turnout was 56.93%. In the previous municipal council elections in 2022, the turnout was 53.3%.
