Badhuis car park now open to everyone
The new underground car park beneath the former Holland Casino is now open. The municipality has taken over the building and the garage. The garage will remain in use for the coming years until the redevelopment of Badhuisplein begins. With this new facility, Zandvoort now has two public car parks.
On Monday morning, 23 March, alderman Gert-Jan Bluijs (Parking) and alderman Jan Jaap de Kloet (Badhuisplein Project) were the first to enter. They symbolically took the very first ticket from the machine.
What’s in it for you?
The opening provides an additional 120 parking spaces for visitors right in the heart of the village. This leaves more street parking available for residents. The garage is open 24/7, helping to ease the pressure on on-street parking. Alderman Bluijs is pleased the garage is now operational:
“In Zandvoort, we’re making the best possible use of the space we have. This building stood empty, and now we’ve given it a new purpose that was badly needed. The extra parking spaces will be welcome for day visitors and tourists, and the garage’s central location will help reduce parking pressure on the streets.”
According to alderman De Kloet, the opening fits well with future plans:
“We’re working on a new Badhuisplein. Over the coming years, this redevelopment will really get underway. Being able to use this garage now strengthens the area and provides some breathing space during the construction work.”
What can you find in the garage?
The garage has 120 spaces. The clearance height is 1.85 metres, so it is not suitable for vans with roof boxes. There is no lift; access is via stairs. Disabled parking spaces are located at the top of the garage, on Badhuisplein. The garage is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
