Unveiling of historical tiles in Tolkamer
Anyone interested in learning about the history of Tolkamer can now do so through historical photographs displayed as street tiles. By scanning the QR codes on these tiles, visitors are directed to the Heemkundekring’s website, where more background information about the photographs is available. Additionally, corten steel gutters have been installed with cut-outs showing what used to happen in those locations.
Unveiling
The historical tiles were unveiled in a festive ceremony yesterday, attended by aldermen Toon Albers and Bart Kagei.
Collaboration
The tiles and gutters were created based on an idea from the Heemkundekring, which aimed to make Tolkamer’s rich history visible in public spaces. Meanwhile, the Residents’ Platform is working on a map guiding visitors along the tiles, which will soon be available at the Tourist Information Centre. A wonderful collaboration!
's-Gravenwaardsedijk
Work is also underway on a corten steel gutter in the pavement along ’s-Gravenwaardsedijk. This gutter also has a historical reference and will feature the text: Keiendiek.
