Dear members of the C4E Forum,
Dear organisers, participants, and guests,
Thank you for inviting me to address you at the Energy Efficiency Forum today!
Your conference in the beautiful town of Cavtat gathers stakeholders from all areas of the energy efficiency sector.
I am glad you have been holding this biennial event for ten years now.
Energy efficiency is not just another technical regulation within the EU.
It contributes to important societal goals for citizens, businesses, and municipalities.
First, it aids in decarbonisation with massive potential in the building sector.
The EU supports projects to reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling.
Here are three examples:
- The Interreg Programme for Energy Efficient Public Buildings in Central Europe.
- Croatias Recovery and Resilience Plan with 1.98 billion euros for renovations.
- Support through housing and innovation with the European Investment Bank.
Second, lower energy consumption means lower energy bills.
Third, it improves energy security and strengthens economic stability.
We recently adopted a roadmap to end Russian energy imports.
Strengthening cooperation with North Africa and the Middle East is crucial.
Lastly, rolling out energy efficiency boosts jobs and innovation.
It requires coordination and exchange of best practices.
With all stakeholders at the table, we can transition smoothly to energy efficiency.
I wish you a successful conference.
Thank you.
