Therefore, it is crucial to continue investing in innovative sectors. Debate on Stricter Asylum Laws
This week, Member of Parliament Queeny Rajkowski led the debate on stricter asylum laws. With these laws, we ensure that the Netherlands is not more attractive than neighboring countries. This way, we can better manage the asylum influx and keep control over who enters the Netherlands.
On behalf of the cabinet, Minister David van Weel defended the proposals in the House of Representatives. He will be working on this in the coming period to gain control over who comes to the Netherlands.
Next week, the House of Representatives will vote on these proposals.
Scrapping the National CO2 Tax
This week, a motion was passed to abolish the National CO2 tax. In an uncertain and unsafe world, we need our industry very much. We want it to stay here. A strong Dutch industry means prosperity, safety, and sustainability.
By scrapping the CO2 tax, we choose economic growth and give companies room to invest in the Netherlands and in cleaner technology. Our Minister of Climate and Green Growth Sophie Hermans previously presented measures to help the industry and is now working on plans for the future of the sector.
