The Province of Flevoland is carrying out maintenance work from February 2 to October 2026 on the cycle path along Vogelweg (N706) near Knardijk. The path will receive repairs, a new crossing for cyclists, and a new layer of sustainable cement-free concrete. The work is divided into four phases. The first phase starts in February. From March 16 to May 11, 2026, the entire cycle path between the A6 and Larserweg will be repaired. In May and October, additional work will be done on the intersection and the final concrete layer. Cyclists and motorists may experience inconvenience during the works.

Sustainable material

The work uses geopolymer, a cement-free concrete that reduces CO₂ emissions. The concrete is reinforced with added fibers for extra strength. The contractor tests the material in different periods. Weather conditions may affect these tests, sometimes causing extra inconvenience for cyclists.

Work schedule

The work is carried out in four phases:

Phase 1 – geopolymer concrete (first round)

  • Start: Monday, February 2, 2026
  • Duration: approximately three weeks

Phase 2 – maintenance cycle path A6 – Larserweg

  • Period: March 16 to May 11, 2026
  • The entire cycle path will be repaired. Damaged slabs will be replaced.
  • Cyclists can ride over temporary plates where possible.

Phase 3 – Vogelweg – Knardijk intersection (second round geopolymer concrete)

  • Starts immediately after phase 2
  • All traffic must detour via the indicated diversion
  • On May 22, the cycle crossing will be ready; car traffic can use the road again
  • The cycle path remains closed until May 29

Phase 4 – geopolymer (third round)

  • October 2026
  • Cyclists will need to detour temporarily

Closures and detours

During certain phases, Vogelweg between Knarweg and Lepelaarweg is completely closed. Through traffic is diverted via main routes including the A27, A6, Larserweg (N302), and Gooiseweg (N305). Local traffic can use Roerdompweg (N705), Baardmeesweg, and Knarweg. Cyclists are detoured via Lepelaarweg, Schollevaarweg, Knardijk, and Knarweg when connecting to the new crossing. Detours are clearly indicated. In autumn, cycle paths on bridges near Gooiseweg and Lage Vaart will also be repaired and temporarily closed.

Information meeting

On April 13 from 16:00 to 17:30, there will be an information meeting at Saalland, Vogelweg 6 in Lelystad. No registration is required.
