Results 2024

In the annual accounts, we describe what we did in 2024 and what it cost. We carried out a lot, for example:

• We maintained 1,150 km of provincial roads and 1,400 km of bike paths. Traffic safety was improved in 23 locations.
• We made new agreements with transporters to keep villages and cities accessible. From 2027, RegioExpres trains will run between Winterswijk, Doetinchem, and Arnhem.
• We created 1,000 hectares of forest to restore existing nature.
• Farmers manage and maintain 12,500 hectares of nature throughout the province.
• We provided subsidies for over 30 monuments: for restoration, repurposing, and sustainability.
• We enabled sporting events, such as the 2024 European Beach Volleyball Championship and the World Wheelchair Tennis Championship.
• Together we renovated business parks, such as Poort van Midden-Gelderland Noord near Heteren and De Aam in Elst.
• We awarded the 1,500th startup accelerator, supporting young Gelderland companies (since 2018).
• Village and neighborhood deals increase livability. The 25th village deal was closed in Driel. Other deals were made in Duiven, Etten, Gendt, and Emst.
• The Gelderland Housing Month attracted more than 2,200 visitors. Here we showed new ways of housing construction, such as adding homes to existing buildings.
• We helped entrepreneurs with generating and distributing local energy, such as on the business park De Mars in Zutphen.
• We renewed existing charging stations in 10 Gelderland municipalities to load smartly (grid-aware).

In 2024, more than €901 million was invested in Gelderland. Money for projects and subsidies that could not proceed due to circumstances was postponed to 2025 or went into a savings pot, the so-called reserves. Our account result is €58 million.

Provincial States (PS) now have to make a decision on the annual accounts, which they will do in the next State meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
