For the renewal of the environmental vision, we engaged again with residents and partners in October and November 2025. We organized various meetings throughout Gelderland to test choices for the Gelderland environmental vision. Read the results now in the participation report.

Spatial Choices

In this second participation round, the 7 spatial choices were central, proposed by the Provincial Executive (GS) for the renewed environmental vision. During the meetings, we discussed questions such as: Do you understand what is stated? What do you think of the content? And what do these choices mean for your living environment and for all of Gelderland?

Participation Report

Bureau Buhrs and Land-ID compiled for us the results of the meetings and the online citizen survey ‘Swipocratie’ in a participation report. Read the results here in the participation report and the accompanying appendices.

The substantive input we gathered in this participation round will be processed in January and early February 2026 in the further elaboration of our draft environmental vision. In addition, we also held administrative discussions per region. That is also input for the further elaboration.

Follow-up

We expect the draft environmental vision to be ready by the end of April. Then we will put the document on public display during a so-called ‘consultation period’. Everyone can review the draft environmental vision and the accompanying Environmental Impact Report (OER) during 6 weeks. During this period, anyone can respond via a ‘consultation’. We will also receive advice from the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee (Commissie mer) during this period. After the summer, the Provincial Council will finally decide on the renewed environmental vision.

Why are we renewing the environmental vision?

Our current vision, Gaaf Gelderland from 2018, is no longer up to date. This vision provides too little direction and does not align well with the Environmental Act. Therefore, we started an intensive process in January 2024 to renew the vision. This way, we can better respond to new spatial and social developments.
