Entrepreneurs in North Holland who want to innovate can apply for subsidies in 2026. The Province of North Holland and the national government are making over €8.5 million available through the SME Innovation Stimulation Top Sectors (MIT) subsidy schemes.

The MIT is for North Holland SMEs seeking financing in the early stages of their innovation projects. In total, over €8.5 million is available to finance feasibility projects and Research and Development (R&D) collaboration projects within the innovative SMEs in North Holland.

2 types of subsidies

Companies can apply for subsidies if they want to carry out either a feasibility project or an R&D collaboration project. A feasibility project identifies the risks involved in developing a new product, process, service, or technology.

Deputy Esther Rommel: “The strength of innovation lies in experimentation. By supporting entrepreneurs in that early phase, we help innovative ideas grow into solutions that make North Holland stronger and more future-proof. It all starts with the courage to take that first step.”

Afterwards, the entrepreneur can decide whether to start a Research & Development follow-up trajectory. The ultimate goal of the MIT schemes is to promote innovations in SMEs and thus contribute to a sustainable, innovative, and entrepreneurial economy.

The activities for which subsidies are requested must fit within the Mission-driven Innovation and Top Sectors policy.

Practical information

The subsidy schemes are available on the website of the Province of North Holland. The scheme for feasibility projects opens on April 7, 2026, and the one for R&D collaboration on June 9, 2026. The schemes close on September 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
