In 2025, a new subsidy will be available for parties organizing training, workshops, coaching, and demonstration activities for groups of farmers. This scheme aims to make the Utrecht agricultural sector more future-proof and reduce negative effects on climate, biodiversity, and soil quality.
The subsidy mainly focuses on knowledge about improving soil and biodiversity. Because good soil management is very important, especially in land-based agriculture such as dairy farming, beef farming, arable farming, and fruit cultivation. Knowledge activities that contribute to an active soil life, lower emissions, and better resilience to climate extremes are therefore eligible for financial support.
Guidelines for future-proof agriculture
Biodiversity also receives extra attention, for example through agricultural nature management or concrete measures such as ditch bank management. Many farmers need support in implementing such measures on their farms. The subsidy teaches farmers through information, training, and guidance how they can steer towards more future-proof agriculture.
The scheme is open to knowledge providers who actively contribute to climate, biodiversity, and soil quality goals. In total, the province of Utrecht allocates 668,000 euros. A subsidy is available for 80 percent of the costs incurred per project, ranging from 25,000 to 300,000 euros.
The application period runs from July 15 to September 30, 2025.
Information meeting for applicants
To inform applicants about this scheme, the province will organize an information meeting on Wednesday evening, July 16. Employees of the province will explain the purpose of the scheme and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) will clarify the technical part of the subsidy.
The location is accessible by public transport (NS station Driebergen-Zeist) and there is ample parking available. After the information meeting, there will be a networking reception.
