During the Administrative Consultations Living Environment 2025, the Implementation Agenda 2.0 of NOVEX Southern Randstad was officially endorsed. The national government and the region have jointly expressed their intention to implement the tasks and agreements mentioned therein.
In addition to the already prioritized program line Healthy and climate-adaptive delta, it has been decided to give extra attention to the program line Future-proof economy in the implementation. This marks an important step towards a resilient and sustainable Southern Randstad.
Joint commitment to a robust green-blue network
The national government and the region have also made concrete agreements about the further development of a joint investment strategy for the robust green-blue network in the Southern Randstad. This strategy focuses on strengthening the connections between city and landscape, with an eye on climate adaptation, quality of life, and future-proof spatial development.
Within NOVEX Southern Randstad, work will be done in the coming period on:
- Further clarifying the regional green-blue task, including geographical boundaries, joint goals, and ambitions.
- Supplementing, validating, and prioritizing projects that contribute to this task, both for the short term (up to 2035) and the long term (after 2035).
- Working out the costs (construction, management, and maintenance) and benefits of this task.
- Working out this task within the program line set up for this NOVEX area; exploring financial coverage for this investment and management task, including research into innovative forms of funding or alternative implementation strategies, such as the use of land.
With these follow-up steps, the national government and the region further shape the structural collaboration within NOVEX Southern Randstad and work towards an integral and future-proof development of the region.
