KNMI Expert Team Meets
Due to the chance of slippery conditions, the warning for Tuesday afternoon has been extended to the west and central parts of the country. The northeast already had a yellow code. The slippery conditions may last until Wednesday morning.
If there is a chance of an orange or red code, meteorologists involve other KNMI experts in the decision-making. Weather model experts indicate how well certain weather models follow the weather situation, climate experts indicate how exceptional the situation is, and communication advisors provide insight into what is currently on peoples minds and the expected impact. Before KNMI issues an orange code, it consults with other meteorological parties to investigate whether the warning is widely supported.
This meeting took place on Monday, February 2 at 12:30 PM. It is a weather situation with a small chance but potentially large impact. Especially in the north, freezing rain can become dangerous Tuesday evening, also during the evening rush hour. The situation is still uncertain, so the team will meet again at 5:00 PM to reassess the situation.
