Her Majesty Queen Máxima will visit Radboudumc in Nijmegen on Tuesday, July 1, focusing on sustainability and circularity in healthcare. Radboudumc is working to reduce the environmental impact of healthcare processes through waste reduction and reuse of materials.
During the visit, Queen Máxima will gain insight into various successful sustainability initiatives at Radboudumc. She will be welcomed by Bertine Lahuis, Chair of the Board of Directors of Radboudumc. The program starts with a discussion with students, teachers, and researchers about sustainability in medical education. Then, Queen Máxima will visit the operating rooms where she will receive information about waste reduction and the reuse of materials.
In one of the nursing departments, the research project for the re-dispensing of medicines will be explained. The visit concludes at the waste depot where a discussion takes place about the necessity of collaborating for innovative recycling of hospital waste.
