Her Majesty Queen Máxima and Mrs. Loes Meurs, partner of Prime Minister Schoof, received partners of heads of state and government attending the NATO summit 2025 in The Hague on Wednesday, June 25, in Rotterdam.
The partner program is a customary part of a NATO summit. It provides accompanying partners of heads of state and government with an informative program parallel to the summit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the municipality of Rotterdam to organize the program in the city.
Mayor Carola Schouten of Rotterdam welcomed the group at the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Due to a large-scale renovation, the museum is closed. The Depot is the first publicly accessible art depot in the world where visitors can view part of the museum collection and be informed about the renovation process. After a group photo on the roof of the Depot, with a view of the Rotterdam skyline, the group was given a tour of the Depot. Under the guidance of general director Ina Klaassen and director of Collections and Research Sandra Kisters, they looked into some compartments where the collection is stored. They also visited the exhibition The stories we tell, where artist Susanna Inglada provided an explanation of her work.
Subsequently, the city was viewed from the water. With flagship Prinses Amalia, a ship of the Royal Spido, they sailed past several famous spots and buildings such as the Euromast, the Eemhaven, the ss Rotterdam, and the skyline. The Erasmus Bridge, the Willems Bridge, and De Hef were also part of the boat trip.
