On Friday evening, March 14, the control room received a report of a fight on Heuvelring around 11:50 PM. Someone might have been stabbed as well. Upon arrival, officers indeed encountered several individuals and a grim atmosphere. They were approached by bystanders, as a victim of this fight was said to be a bit further away at Piusplein. There, they indeed found a 24-year-old woman from Tilburg who had reportedly been assaulted by a man on Heuvelring.
However, things went wrong during the arrest of this 50-year-old man from Tilburg. He resisted strongly against his arrest, prompting colleagues to control him with the stun gun. Bystanders also attempted to intervene in the arrest. Ultimately, the man complied and went quietly to the station. In the struggle, a police officer injured his hand. The colleague has filed a report regarding this incident.
A second suspect, a 27-year-old man from Tilburg, was also arrested on suspicion of involvement. Further investigation will need to determine the exact cause of this incident.

Violence Against Police
Violence against police officers during and outside working hours is unacceptable, and each incident is one too many. We do not accept crossing that line. For years, the police have been implementing strong (communication) policies in cooperation with the Public Prosecution Service regarding violence against police officers and other emergency services. Colleagues who encounter violence can count on maximum support from the organization. Police officers work to de-escalate whenever possible. But when necessary, we step forward and do not shy away from confrontation; for the safety of emergency services and citizens.
