Report
On the night of July 30 to 31, around 00:15, the police received a report that a person with very serious injuries had been found on the Iedyk in Burdaard. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, but unfortunately, it was too late for the victim. It soon became clear that the man had become a victim of a fatal accident, and the driver had fled the scene.
Arrest of the Suspect
The police immediately launched an investigation. They conducted a forensic investigation and neighborhood inquiries at the scene and reviewed any available CCTV footage from the area of the incident. The investigation revealed that the victim was struck while riding his bicycle, presumably by a black pickup truck. Today, the police arrested a 35-year-old man from the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân on suspicion of possible involvement in the accident. The vehicle that may have been involved in the accident was also found by the police. The man is in custody and being interrogated.
