Roze in Blauw advocates for the rights and safety of LHBTIQ+ individuals and serves as the point of contact for this community. Our presence at the Pride and other events helps to show: we are here for you and you can share your story with us. It lowers the threshold for reporting discrimination and violent crimes, says a staff member of that network.
Assistance with Reporting or Filing
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of discrimination and violence against LHBTIQ+ individuals, emphasizes the police officer. Victims appreciate being able to call the Roze in Blauw hotline, which is staffed 24/7 by colleagues from Roze in Blauw. Police officers specialized in these crimes can assist you with your report or filing. Additionally, we provide advice within the police on cases involving discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. And of course, we are also here for police officers who face prejudices or discrimination themselves. The Roze in Blauw network thus has both an internal and external function.
Connection
This year, Pride is centered around the theme LOVE, which according to Roze in Blauw also resonates with the police. Love means taking care and responsibility for everyones safety, so you can be free to be yourself. Its about respect and space for diversity: protecting differences and combating discrimination. Love serves as a moral compass: seeking connection instead of polarization, being aware of vulnerability, and seeing each other. Thus, during Pride, everything comes together: the freedom to be yourself and our duty to protect that.
