One of the seized vehicles also turned out to contain a hidden compartment, which was presumably used for illegal purposes. This discovery strengthens the suspicions of involvement in criminal activities.
Intervention Team HIT
The investigation was carried out by the Intervention Team HIT, a composite team within the Groningen District, which specifically focuses on tackling crime related to drugs, firearms, and money laundering. The Intervention Team is composed of police officers with a strong financial expertise added to hit criminals where it hurts: their assets. The Intervention Team HIT ensures that criminals are tracked down and that their assets are seized.
Seizing Assets
The investigation will be completed in coordination with the Public Prosecutor. The police pay attention to tackling and combating money laundering. In this case, goods have also been seized. By seizing criminally obtained assets, criminals are hit where it hurts them the most, namely in their wallets. This way, they gain no benefit from their actions, and it is made clear that crime does not pay.
