The explosion occurred around 10:00 PM. The resident was present in the house with an acquaintance when the incident took place.

Previous incident
In December 2024, a similar incident also occurred at a residence on Tudderenderweg in Sittard. However, this involved a different house than the one where the explosive detonated now. It is currently unknown whether there is a connection between these two incidents. This will need to be clarified by the investigation.

The police have initiated technical and tactical investigations. Neighborhood inquiries are being conducted, and camera footage is being retrieved.
