On behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, contractor KWS will carry out major maintenance on the A7 between junction Zurich and Witmarsum from Sunday evening, March 23 to Thursday, May 15, 2025.
During the major maintenance, the asphalt of this section of the A7 will be replaced in both directions, with one lane fully closed for 3 weeks. Traffic can use the other lane with one lane available per direction. The contractor will carry out maintenance on viaducts, guardrails, verges, and some service areas.
Closures A7
From Sunday evening, March 23, 2025, to Monday morning, April 14, 2025, work will be carried out on the A7 between Zurich and Witmarsum in the direction of Sneek.
During the works on the lane towards Sneek, the following on and off ramps will be closed:
- On-ramp Zurich (15)
- Service area Hayum
- Off-ramp Witmarsum (16)
- On-ramp Witmarsum (16)
During the works on the lane towards the Afsluitdijk, the following on and off ramps will be closed for traffic from Thursday, April 24 to Thursday, May 15:
- Off-ramp Witmarsum (16)
- On-ramp Witmarsum (16)
- Service area Wildinghe
- Off-ramp Zurich (15)
The on-ramp from the A31 Harlingen to the A7 Sneek is closed from Wednesday, April 2 to Friday, April 4.
The off-ramp from the A7 Sneek to the A31 Harlingen is closed from Wednesday, May 7 to Friday, May 9.

Works on the A31
In May and June, works are planned on the A31 between junction Zurich and Harlingen in both directions. The exact dates of the closures (2 weekends per direction) will be communicated at the beginning of May. As these are weather-sensitive works, reserve weekends are also scheduled in addition to the 2 required weekends per direction.
