During a routine inspection on February 5, 2026, a problem was detected at the Buitenhuizer Bridge over Zijkanaal C in Spaarndam. As a result, the bridge cannot be operated and is closed to vessels taller than 6.82 m (Canal level).
We are investigating how to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Until then, operation is not possible. Road traffic on the N202 is not affected by the closure.
Consequences for shipping
- The clearance height is limited to a maximum of 6.82 m (Canal level).
- Ships lower than 6.82 m can pass without hindrance.

Note that the eastern Staande Mast Route to and from the Noordzeekanaal via Amsterdam is not available. Due to work on the Cruquiusbrug in Haarlem, the western Staande Mast Route is also closed until March 30, 2026.
