Since July 10, 2025, the Caland Bridge can no longer be remotely operated for shipping due to a malfunction in the connection with the traffic control center. The bridge is therefore operated manually.
Caland Bridge closed for road traffic
During the weekend of July 10, 2025, there are fewer operators available to operate the bridge locally. For this bridge, shipping traffic takes precedence over road traffic. In the morning, there is sufficient staffing in the traffic control center for local operation, but not afterwards. Therefore, the bridge will be closed for road traffic on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, every afternoon from 1:30 PM until the following morning at 6:00 AM. Traffic will be diverted via the Thomassentunnel on the A15.
We are working to resolve the malfunction. On Monday morning, July 14, at 6:00 AM, the bridge will reopen for road traffic. That day, a component will be replaced to resolve the malfunction.
