The Tholense Bridge (N286) will be open for traffic again from Monday, April 7, 2025, at 06:00 AM. The final joints and barriers have been installed, a top layer of asphalt has been applied, and the lighting on the main carriageway has been renewed.
Since new lighting is being installed on the parallel road, the parallel road will only be available for (motor)cyclists and pedestrians from April 7 to April 17. Agricultural traffic will use the main carriageway during this period, and therefore a speed limit of 50km/h will apply until April 17.
The work on the main carriageway of the Tholense Bridge was carried out as planned between March 14 and April 7. Due to favorable weather conditions and coordination between the authorities and contractors, various tasks could be combined.
Joints, Barriers, and Asphalt
The temporary joints have been replaced with permanent ones, the temporary barriers have been replaced with permanent barriers, and the top layer of asphalt and markings have been applied. The lighting on the main carriageway of the bridge has also been replaced, and remaining inspections have been carried out with a view to the future renovation of the bridge. The province of North Brabant has, in addition to the work on the Tholense Bridge, carried out asphalt work on the Eendrachtsweg, from the traffic lights in Halsteren to the Tholense Bridge.
The speed limit on the main carriageway of the bridge will remain in effect until April 17. Tractors and other agricultural traffic will be rerouted via the main carriageway during this period because work is still being done on the lighting on the parallel road. After the work on the parallel road is completed, the normal maximum speed can be driven on the main carriageway again.
