On behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, Poort van Noord will carry out regular maintenance on the N33 between Assen and Siddeburen from June 6 to June 9, 2025. This will be followed by major maintenance from June 9 to June 18 from Junction Gieten to Assen. Expect extra travel time.
Regular Maintenance Weekend N33 Assen-Siddeburen
During the regular maintenance weekend, the N33 between Assen and Siddeburen will be fully closed in both directions from Friday evening June 6, 19:00 until Monday morning June 9, 06:00. During this weekend, we will carry out mowing and green maintenance, restore verges and guardrails, conduct inspections and assessments, and clean structures (viaducts and bridges) and the asphalt.
Major Maintenance N33 Junction Gieten-Assen
Following the maintenance weekend, the N33 will be closed from Junction Gieten towards Assen from Friday evening June 6, 19:00 until Wednesday evening June 18, 18:00. During this major maintenance, we will mill the asphalt, and apply new asphalt and markings. The major maintenance is necessary to ensure the quality of the asphalt. Additionally, we will apply quieter asphalt in several locations.
Detours N33
During the regular maintenance weekend, traffic on the N33 at the Siddeburen junction and Junction Zuidbroek towards Assen will be diverted via the N387, A7 and A28. At Junction Assen and Junction Zuidbroek, traffic towards Delfzijl will be diverted via the A28, A7 and N362.
During the major maintenance, traffic at Junction Gieten towards Assen will be diverted via the N34 and the A28. Road users traveling to or via Assen will be diverted at Junction Zuidbroek via the A7 and A28.
In addition to the above detour routes, there are also local detour routes, please follow the familiar yellow signs.
Inconvenience N33
During the period from June 6 to June 18, expect extra travel time and plan your trip on time using the route planner. To minimize inconvenience, Smart Mobility will be employed, including the use of Google Maps and social media. Road users will be actively informed about inconveniences and possible dangerous situations. They can also recommend road users to take another route or travel at a different time, reducing traffic jams.
