From Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, the Kooybrug on the N99 will be open again at night in both directions for all traffic. The test work has progressed so well that the planned night closures of the bridge in April 2025 are no longer necessary.
The bridge will also be operated for all shipping from April 1. The height restriction for ships with a mast height of 8.30 m will be lifted.
The work on the main carriageway (N99), the parallel carriageway (Touwslagersweg), the moving works, and the technical installations were already completed and now the testing of all systems has also been completed. Testing took place at night to minimize disruption to traffic.
The nights of Wednesday, April 9, and Thursday, April 10, are still planned as reserve nights should any work still need to be carried out on the bridge.
Final works on Kooybrug
From Friday morning, May 23, 10:00 to Friday morning, May 30, 05:00, the Kooybrug on the N99 will be completely closed once more for all traffic. This is necessary because a protective layer will be applied to protect the bridge against wear and tear.
Expect severe traffic disruption and significant extra travel time. During this period, we urge road users to work from home if possible, travel differently or together, or travel outside peak hours. This way, the region remains accessible to road users who really need to be on the road.
Other works
Traffic on the N9 between De Stolpen and Den Helder should expect traffic disruption and extra travel time from May 6 to May 16, 2025. During this period, repair work will take place on the Koegrastunnel on the N9.
Traffic towards Den Helder will be diverted via the N248, N249, and the N99 and should expect extra travel time of between 15 and 30 minutes. Traffic towards Alkmaar and emergency services will not be affected.
