The renovation of one of the piers in the harbor of Marken is delayed. Therefore, Rijkswaterstaat opts for a temporary solution and will rebuild the Middelbreg pier in the coming weeks.
Boat owners will still be able to use their mooring in the harbor for the upcoming sailing season.
Work on Marken
In the harbor of Marken, we are replacing the Rijksloopsteiger and the Middelbreg. This work is part of the Marken dike reinforcement. Therefore, boat owners have temporarily stored their boats elsewhere over the past few months.
During the work, it was discovered that the current piles of the Middelbreg are longer than documented at the time of construction. New piles of the correct length are not available in the short term. Therefore, we are temporarily rebuilding the Middelbreg. Boats that have been stored elsewhere can return to their regular spot in Marken by early April 2025.
Rijkswaterstaat and the contractor chose this solution after consultation with Watersportvereniging Marken and Zeilvereniging Het Y, which represent the users of the pier. The Rijksloopsteiger was renewed on time.
Necessary Improvements Middelbreg
In the next winter season, the Middelbreg will be completed with new piles. During this period, we will also continue with other necessary improvements in the harbor, such as repaving.
