€250,000 available for Brabant residents who want to make their neighbourhood greener and more water-friendly
Residents, foundations, associations and other community initiatives in Brabant that want to make their neighbourhood greener and more climate-resilient can once again submit an application to the Neighbourhood Nature and Neighbourhood Water Fund. This year, the province of North Brabant, the Brabant Cultural Fund and the water boards Aa en Maas, Brabantse Delta and De Dommel are making €250,000 available for small-scale nature and water projects carried out in collaboration with local residents. The Brabant Cultural Fund is responsible for administering the scheme and processing applications.
Local climate resilience, social cohesion and awareness
The Neighbourhood Nature and Neighbourhood Water Fund supports small-scale initiatives by residents that contribute to local climate resilience, social cohesion and awareness.
“Residents can do a lot to make their neighbourhood greener and more climate-resilient, and it’s not only beneficial but also fun to do together,” says Hagar Roijackers, Deputy for Nature, Environment and Rural Area Management at the province of North Brabant. “Community spaces such as sports clubs, public church gardens and cemeteries, or capturing rainwater by allotment associations, also contribute to a resilient living environment. With this scheme, we are supporting projects that have a local impact and bring people together.”
Who can apply?
Individuals, foundations, associations and self-employed professionals can apply for a financial contribution for small-scale nature and water projects, such as:
- green roofs and façades
- neighbourhood allotments and food forests
- sedum roofs and greening of former hard surfaces
- projects that capture, retain or infiltrate water
- improving biodiversity
The projects must be carried out in collaboration with the initiators and contribute to a healthy, sustainable and climate-resilient living environment.
How to apply
You can apply for a contribution from the Neighbourhood Nature and Neighbourhood Water Fund until 2 November 2026, or until the available budget is exhausted, via the Brabant Cultural Fund [Buurtnatuur- en Buurtwaterfonds Noord-Brabant - het Cultuurfonds (links to an external website) (opens in new window)]. Sports clubs and other public spaces can now also apply for a contribution from the Neighbourhood Nature and Neighbourhood Water Fund to make their surroundings greener and more climate-resilient.
