Blue Resident Subsidy Available Again
Extended periods of drought or, conversely, waterlogging are becoming increasingly common. Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden (HDSR) works every day to mitigate the effects of drought or waterlogging. As a resident, you can also take action to reduce these effects, for example by replacing paving stones in your garden with plants, disconnecting your downpipe, or collecting rainwater in a rain barrel. HDSR provides subsidies for these water-friendly initiatives: the Blue Resident Subsidy.
This year, the water authority is making €180,000 available again for actions and initiatives that make your neighborhood or surroundings more water-friendly. You can apply for this subsidy together with at least four other participants, such as your neighbors, a school, association, or foundation. Per application, the water authority provides a maximum of €5,000 (including VAT), and for green-blue school playgrounds, a maximum of €7,500 (including VAT). The water authority covers at most half of the costs of the initiative. For the installation of rain barrels and green roofs, this is at most 30%.
