Commission disburses €175.4 million to Denmark under NextGenerationEU

Today, the European Commission disbursed €175.4 million to Denmark, marking the fourth payment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The Facility is the centrepiece of NextGenerationEU - the Commissions post-pandemic programme to support Member States recovery, economic growth, and competitiveness.

Measures linked to this payment include investments to support a range of measures focused on sustainability, including the construction of 45 km of cycling infrastructure, increasing offshore wind capacity by 4 GW, and fostering the organic transition in public canteens.

On 30 September 2025, Denmark submitted its fourth payment request under the RRF to the Commission. It comprises five milestones and eight targets covering one reform and 12 investments.

The Commission greenlighted Denmarks payment request on 4 November 2025. Now that the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council has issued a favourable opinion, the Commission has disbursed the funds.

Overall, Denmarks Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed by €1.63 billion in grants. Todays payment will raise the total funds disbursed to Denmark to 78% of the plans allocated amount, with 76% of all the milestones and targets in the plan fulfilled.

As with all Member States, payments to Denmark under the RRF are performance-based, contingent upon the successful implementation of their national plans.

With a view to the closure of the Facility at the end of 2026, Members States must implement all outstanding milestones and targets by August 2026 and submit last payment requests by the end of September.

An interactive map showcasing examples of reforms and investments supported by the RRF is available online. Further details on the RRF payment claim process are also available online.

Commission makes available €160 million to support EU agri-food sector

The European Commission has launched the 2026 calls for proposals supporting campaigns and events that promote sustainable and high-quality EU agri-food products within the European Union and worldwide. Up to €160 million will be made available through grants to co-finance programmes proposed by producer groups and other agri-food trade bodies, both on the EU internal market and in key non-EU markets with strong growth potential, including the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and North America.

The calls are part of the 2026 promotion policy work programme, under which the Commission will allocate €205 million to co-fund promotion activities for EU agri-food products, the highest allocation ever dedicated to enhancing consumer awareness of European agricultural products and quality schemes. These actions are carried out under the common signature ‘Enjoy, its from Europe, which aims to raise consumer awareness of the quality of EU products and reward EU farmers and agri-food business for their efforts to meet high standards of safety and environmental standards.

In addition, the work programme foresees initiatives to be run directly by the Commission, including promotion and information campaigns in third countries, EU participation in major international agri-food trade fairs, Commissioner Christophe Hansens visits to third countries and the development of market entry handbooks for exporters.

The agri-food promotion policy is a political priority for the European Union, as highlighted by President Ursula von der Leyen in her State of the Union address. It is recognised in the Vision for Agriculture and Food as a key tool to support the global competitiveness, resilience and diversification of the EU agri-food sector.

The calls launched today will remain open for applications for a period of three months and are open to a wide range of eligible operators across the EU. An information day will take place in Brussels and online on 27 and 28 January 2026.
