On September 17, 2025, Meld Misdaad Anoniem (M.) has started a national campaign against attacks with explosives on behalf of the Offensive against Explosions. Almere is one of the first 11 municipalities to join the campaign.
The campaign shows the impact of explosions and calls on young people and other residents to report suspicious situations or signals anonymously. One report can be enough to prevent an explosion in the neighborhood.
Mayor Hein van der Loo represents the 40 largest Dutch municipalities in the Offensive against Explosions. “Attacks with explosives, and the ease with which they are carried out, are unacceptable. Police and municipality are doing everything they can to stop these attacks. We also urgently appeal to our residents. This campaign helps to report suspicious situations more quickly. Fireworks in a storage room, a family member being approached for a criminal job – such reports make the difference. With everyones eyes and ears, we keep our city safe,” says Van der Loo.
Joint Approach
The campaign is an initiative of the Offensive against Explosions. The Offensive is a collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and Security, the National Police, the Public Prosecution Service, Aedes (on behalf of the housing corporations), municipalities, the Association of Insurers, the probation organizations, and VNO-NCW and MKB Netherlands (on behalf of the business community). They are joining forces to reduce the number of attacks with explosives.
Participating in the Campaign
The first municipalities to join the campaign are Rotterdam, Almere, Zwijndrecht, Alblasserdam, Papendrecht, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Sliedrecht, Delft, Zaanstad, Roosendaal, and Baarn. They spread the campaign through their own channels along with target-oriented actions and an online campaign on Snapchat, Google, Facebook, and Instagram.
