The municipality of Almere wants to know what Almere residents find important when they move away from gas. Working towards a gas-free Almere is something we do together with our residents. Therefore, we would like to know what they consider important when transitioning from gas to another source of heating. What do they find feasible and affordable, and what do they need in this process? We are already supporting residents in saving energy and will also do so with insulating their homes. The results of this research will be used to make the right choices towards a gas-free Almere. By the end of 2026, we want to have the plan for this approved, according to Alderman Alexander Sprong.”
Purpose of the research
The research provides insight into how residents view the concept of affordable heating and which values and principles they consider important. It will be investigated under what conditions the transition from gas to sustainable heating is affordable according to residents. Participants will be asked to indicate which goals they find important. The research also provides insight into how residents value the different components of a sustainable heating solution in monetary terms and which parts of the total cost structure are more or less important to residents. The survey will be conducted on a sample basis among different target groups, so not all residents will receive the letter to fill out the survey. The results of the research will be used in drafting the plan to make Almere a sustainable gas-free city where everyone can participate.
Larger research
Almere is participating in a larger study conducted by sixteen municipalities regarding the affordability of heating. In the coming weeks, this research will be initiated together with EBN (Energy Management Netherlands). The research results are expected to be known in June/July.
