Alderman Kees Ahles (Leefbaar Almere) submitted his resignation on Monday, November 24, 2025, with immediate effect as alderman of Finance, Organization, Services, and Arts and Culture. In a letter to the municipal council, he explains why the work as an administrator has become increasingly difficult to perform for him.

The college regrets Ahles departure but respects his choice.
‘We will miss Kees as a pleasant colleague who has worked hard with us to implement the ambitions of this college and has strongly advocated for healthy municipal finances. An administrator with a great heart for Almeres heritage and cultural life.’

Last Friday, alderman Micha Mos (GroenLinks) submitted his resignation. This means the college of mayor and aldermen will continue with 5 aldermen for the time being. Losing 2 colleagues in a short time is not only a political but also an emotional blow. But we remain committed as a college to the city and its residents.’

Who will take over the portfolios of Mos and Ahles is not yet known. The college will discuss the internal division of tasks shortly. Whether the college will be supplemented and if so, on what timeline, is up to the municipal council. More clarity is expected in the near future.
