The DNA foundation aims to solve problems and generate ideas related to energy, the circular economy, and climate. The network participates and advises the Municipality of Amersfoort on new regulations and policies. Chairman Frans Smink says, “Everyone benefits when policies align well with practical realities.” Alderman Stegeman signed an agreement this week to formalize the collaboration.
Problem: overloaded power grid
Companies in Amersfoort use a lot of electricity, but the power grid is full. As a result, companies currently cannot get new or larger connections if they want to move or become more sustainable. However, there are often still possibilities. DNA founder Roger Ooms explains that opportunities remain: “If you look at what is possible within the current connection, there is often space. If a company uses less energy through insulation or efficient devices, space is freed up. That space can be used for solar panels, charging stations, or a heat pump.”
Who participates?
DNA consists of seven organizations:
- The four business associations of De Wieken-Vinkenhoef, Vathorst, Calveen, and Isselt
- Entrepreneurs Downtown Amersfoort (OBA)
- Association of Amersfoort Companies (VAB)
- Association of Amersfoort Entrepreneurs (VAO)
Together, they represent a large portion of Amersfoort’s entrepreneurs.
