Research on Microplastics in Amersfoort

Five students from Utrecht University are investigating how much litter and microplastics end up in the water of Amersfoort. They examine how the municipality and water board currently remove waste and what additional measures can help make our canals and the Eem cleaner.

Measurements on December 5

On Friday, December 5, the students will go on the water with a boat and a special net. Together with Alderman Van Lammeren, they will measure the amount of microplastics present at three locations: in the Amersfoort canals, the Eem river, and the Valleikanaal.

Survey

The students also want to know how residents and entrepreneurs experience litter in their environment. Therefore, a short, anonymous survey(external link) has been created.
Filling it out takes 5 to 10 minutes. Please complete the survey (external link) by December 12 at the latest.

The answers help to make Amersfoort cleaner and find solutions against (micro)plastic in our living environment.
