The program offers ways to meet each other through activities such as lectures, theater, film, discussions, snacks, and drinks. Residents, entrepreneurs, and volunteers are welcome. With one exception, the activities in the program are free.

Bystander Training

This year, the program offers a Bystander Training for the first time, where you learn how to intervene in cases of discrimination. After this training was initially organized for municipal staff, it is now also offered for free to the city. Research shows that a bystander can make a significant difference for people who are discriminated against.

During the training, you will practice various ways to address someone. Even the smallest actions can be supportive for someone who feels excluded or attacked. Alderman Paffen-Zeenni of Diversity and Inclusion: “In Amersfoort, we want everyone to feel at home and to be treated equally. We can help each other with that. In the bystander training, you learn how to approach this in the best way. This way, you can address others appropriately when you notice that someone is being discriminated against or when there is inappropriate behavior.”
