Together with Alderman Ben van Koningsveld (Sports and Movement), she performed the official and festive unveiling in the presence of many children from the local primary schools, sports clubs, the builders, SRO, and many other users of the hall.
Jeroen Stomphorst, reporter at NOS Studio Sport and an Amersfoort resident, interviewed Femke Bol and the alderman at the opening.
Why a new sports hall?
The old gymnasium on Koning Arthurpad was outdated and no longer met current standards. The new Femke Bol Hall is about 2 meters higher and is wider and longer than the old hall.
What is unique about the new Femke Bol Hall?
The new sports hall has been designed with energy efficiency, the use of biobased materials, and ecology in mind. Project manager Auke IJkema from SRO supervised the construction and worked for years with various parties on this project. Moreover, the neighborhood sports coaches from SRO not only contributed to the design but will also teach in the new hall. It is a beautiful sustainable hall that can truly keep up with the future and is constructed with natural materials and partially from recycled materials. One example of this is the old slatted ceiling from the previous hall that can now be seen in the entrance.
The hall provides ample space for indoor sports in the neighborhood. Not only will primary school children use the new sports hall, but sports clubs and other activity providers can also use the new sports hall (in the evenings).
