From January 1 to June 30, 2026, Amsterdam housing corporations will offer 100 homes on WoningNet without priority rules. This is a trial. The trial is the result of an agreement between Amsterdam and the citizens initiative ‘Fair chances for social rental homes’. Only for homes with lower rent, people with low incomes will still have priority.

When registering for homes participating in the trial, any priority or urgency does not apply. The number of housing points determines who gets the home.

How it works

Every month, homes from the trial become available. Everyone registered with WoningNet sees a symbol next to the 100 homes in the trial. This indicates that these homes have no priority rules. Registering for a home in the trial works the same as for other homes in the WoningNet database.

What kind of homes are these?

The trial concerns social rental homes smaller than 61 square meters that:

  • are not on the ground floor, or
  • are on the ground floor but not accessible by elevator and located on the second floor or higher.

Homes intended for seniors, youth, or wheelchair users are not part of the trial.

For whom?

Everyone registered with WoningNet can respond to the 100 homes in the trial. This includes people with or without priority or urgency. If people have priority or urgency, it does not count for these homes. For all other homes on WoningNet, the existing rules apply.

Exception

Only priority for low incomes remains for the homes in the trial. This ensures that cheaper social rental homes go to people with lower incomes. The number of housing points determines who gets the home. More information about priority for people with lower incomes can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions on amsterdam.mijndak.nl.

After the trial

After the trial, we will review who received the 100 homes. We want to know if there is a significant difference in allocation compared to similar homes offered in the standard way on WoningNet.
