From July 12 to September 15, the 2nd Coentunnel (A10) towards Amsterdam-North will be closed for maintenance. Traffic cannot pass through the tunnel from Amsterdam-West to Amsterdam-North.
During this period, traffic will be redirected via the A10 West towards A10 South, A10 East, and A10 North.
Measures to reduce inconvenience
- From August 25 to September 12, bus 395 will run extra trips during peak hours between Zaandam and Amsterdam Sloterdijk.
- From Purmerend, there will also be more buses on line 272 during peak hours.
- Until October 1, the availability of shared scooters in the municipality of Zaanstad will be expanded.
- During the closure, the Hempont will operate every 10 minutes instead of every 20 minutes.
Connection A10 – A8
Work is also being done on the connection A10 North (after exit 18) – A8. This will take 2 nights, from July 10 to 11 and from July 11 to 12 from 21:00 to 05:00. The number of lanes will be increased from 2 to 3.
About the work
The 2nd Coentunnel contains concrete that can be less fire-resistant in the event of an extremely large fire. Therefore, heat-resistant plates will be installed. This was also done last summer. At that time, Rijkswaterstaat did this in the switch tube. From July 12, they will do this in the eastern tube. The asphalt will also be replaced, and new lighting and cameras will be installed.
