Children aged 4 to 11 can travel for free on GVB buses, trams, and metros starting Saturday, July 12, under the supervision of an adult. This initiative lasts not 6 months but a year and a half: until January 3, 2027. Read here how to arrange this for your child.
Families in Amsterdam and Weesp can travel around the city for less money for family visits, a trip to the pool, or the park starting from the summer vacation. Children can travel for free every day from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM until January 3, 2027. Adults need an OV-chipkaart with balance.
How to apply

For this initiative, your children need a personal OV-chipkaart. If they don’t have one yet, you can apply for it. Each child needs their own OV-chipkaart.

You can apply for the OV-chipkaart via ov-chipkaart.nl. The card costs € 7.50. You will receive it by mail after about 5 days.

On the OV-chipkaart, you can apply for free travel for children.
