Free Solar Panels for Amsterdam Residents with Low Income

We are going to install free second-hand solar panels on the roofs of Amsterdam residents who have little to spend. Over the next 2 years, we will install panels for 800 to 1,000 households.

Many people remove solar panels while they are still functioning. For example, because the roof they are on needs to be renewed. Or because new panels provide the owner with a higher yield. The old solar panels are still perfectly usable, but are often destroyed. Energy bank Zon Amsterdam will clean and test these solar panels so that we can install them on other roofs.

Lower Energy Bill

Many households in Amsterdam struggle to pay their energy bill. We would like to lower their bills. We do this by better insulating homes, and now also by installing solar panels. The second-hand solar panels we use for this are of good quality. They can last at least another 15 years.

Who is Eligible?

We will work with housing corporations and the districts to determine which roofs and projects are suitable for the second-hand solar panels. You cannot apply for this yourself.

How Do We Pay for This?

The installation costs of the solar panels will initially be paid from the Climate Fund. We are investigating how we can arrange the financing of this project in the long term.
