On Friday, July 11 at 11:00 PM, Rijkswaterstaat will start major maintenance on the A4 between junction De Hoek and junction Burgerveen. This work will last until Wednesday, August 20 at 5:00 AM and will cause extreme disruption in the regions of Amsterdam and Haarlemmermeer. Road users are advised not to travel together or otherwise.
The asphalt needs to be replaced. This also applies to the culvert (an underground waterway). Therefore, major maintenance is necessary.
Fewer Lanes
During the work, traffic on the A4 in both directions will be possible, but there will be fewer and narrower lanes available. The speed limit will therefore be reduced to only 70 kilometers per hour.
Delays of Up to 60 Minutes
We expect severe traffic disruption throughout the entire period for traffic between Amsterdam and The Hague. This also applies to traffic to and from Schiphol. Expect delays of up to 60 minutes.
Advice for Road Users
- Be well-prepared by consulting navigation services.
- Choose another mode of transport.
- Travel together by carpooling, for example.
- Work from home more often if possible.
