Amsterdam is allocating nearly 800,000 euros this year in subsidies to provide extra help to people without papers in Amsterdam. These individuals are not officially registered anywhere, which often makes it difficult for them to access healthcare, education, or reliable information, rendering them particularly vulnerable.
The subsidies are intended for organizations that provide assistance and support to undocumented individuals in 24-hour shelters and beyond.
Help
With this funding, organizations can provide assistance such as medical care, support during pregnancy, education, and guidance for victims of human trafficking. We believe it is important that everyone can live safely and healthily in Amsterdam, including those who are not officially known to the government.
Broad Support
It is estimated that 15,000 undocumented individuals live and work in the city. Many have been here for years. Because these individuals lack papers, they are at high risk of exploitation and often live in dire circumstances. We support this vulnerable group of Amsterdammers with various initiatives, such as shelter, a support and information point, training pilots, food initiatives, and medical assistance.
