What do you think of the new hospitality regulations in Amsterdam? On Tuesday, April 15, there will be a special speaking evening about the new hospitality policy at the city hall. Everyone is welcome to speak, whether you are a resident, visitor, or hospitality owner.
The city is getting busier. More tourists, more hospitality, but also more residents who want to sleep peacefully. We are trying to maintain the balance as a municipality. Therefore, we have established new hospitality regulations. The new hospitality policy includes stricter closing times for cafes, snack bars, and restaurants. There will also be a licensing requirement for terraces, and amplified sound on the street will be limited.
How does speaking work?
These plans are not yet finalized. The municipal council will decide later this year. First, the city has the floor. At the speaking evening, you can briefly express your opinion. You must register in advance. This can be done until Monday, April 14, at 12:00 via the registration form.
Where and when?
The speaking evening will take place on Tuesday, April 15. We will start at 19:00 in the Council Chamber at the city hall, Amstel 1. Even if you do not want to speak, you are welcome. You can take a seat in the public gallery.
Speaking via a letter or video
Cannot attend? Speaking is also possible through a written contribution to secretariaatAZ@amsterdam.nl or a video message. These contributions will not be read or shown on the evening itself, but will be taken into account.
What happens next?
The speaking evening is organized at the request of the council committee on General Affairs. This committee will discuss the new policy on May 8. After the committees discussion, the municipal council will make a decision on the hospitality policy.
