Are you curious about which birds are making their calls, chirps, or nightingale songs in Amsterdam? There are now five locations in the city with a listening pole that quickly recognizes bird sounds. You can see online which bird species are active. And which species is at the top of the daily, monthly, or all-time hit list.
The Listening Vink is an innovative listening pole that recognizes bird sounds using artificial intelligence. The pole is located in the Amsterdamse Bos, at two locations on the Stadhouderskade, near Artis, and in Vondelpark. On Luistervink.nl you can click on the different locations. You can see which birds are currently audible, but also which species were most active throughout the day, month, or since the pole was installed.
Bird Data
The listening poles provide us with all kinds of information about the birds in the city. For example, who the permanent residents of a certain place are and whether new species are appearing. And what differences exist between the busy Stadhouderskade and the quiet Amsterdamse Bos.
New Locations Welcome
The creators of the Listening Vink hope that more locations will be added. Do you have a place where birds sing and where people can marvel? Email to info@luistervink.nl.
Want to Know More
The Listening Vinks on the Stadhouderskade and near Artis were placed at the initiative of The Green Mile, a foundation dedicated to a greener and more livable Stadhouderskade and city.
