Amsterdam is getting a new indoor swimming pool! We are going to build a modern pool on Zeeburgereiland and give the Flevoparkbad a major renovation. This will create more space for swimming and make it easier for children in East Amsterdam to obtain their swimming diplomas.

The city’s population is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. We are already short of 2 to 3 swimming pools. Therefore, new pools need to be built quickly.

Indoor Pool for Everyone

The new indoor swimming pool on Zeeburgereiland will feature a 25-meter pool and a special pool for people with physical or psychological disabilities. Construction is expected to start in 2029. The pool is scheduled to open in 2030.

Flevoparkbad Renovation

We are also working on the Flevoparkbad. The existing outdoor pools will be renovated and made more sustainable. The pool will be disconnected from gas, installations will be renewed, and facilities refreshed. Work will start in the winter of 2026/2027 and take place outside the swimming season, so swimming can continue in summer.

Future-Proof

The council still needs to approve the location on Zeeburgereiland. But with these plans, Amsterdam will soon have more water fun for young and old, and a future-proof Flevoparkbad to swim in. Additionally, a pool will be built in the future on Strandeiland, the new city district on the IJmeer.
