From January 1, new rates apply for various products and services from the municipality, such as a permit, passport, or marriage. To cover inflation costs, all rates have been increased by 3.69 percent. For some products, the national government determines the fee rates. This applies to fees for passports and driving licenses. The municipality adopts the rates set by the national government.

For these products and services, the rates have been further adjusted in addition to the indexation:

  • When exchanging a foreign driving license, postage costs are now separately listed in the fee table.
  • The rate for the technical construction part of smaller construction projects increases in the first bracket from 1.25 to 2.64 percent.
  • A new rate is introduced for applications with an extended procedure for other activities.
  • A new rate is introduced to include supporting activities (such as at gas stations) within one environmental permit.
  • The articles about the ‘permit-free decision’ are removed. If an application turns out to be permit-free, you pay no fees.
  • Two new rates of €570.30 are introduced for changing a partnership form (such as VOF, CV, or partnership) for an operating permit for hospitality or alcohol license, when at least one person remains involved.
  • For street trading, some articles that were no longer applicable due to an earlier council decision are removed.

Why were rates adjusted?

We increase the rates to place the costs of granting a permit or issuing an extract as much as possible where they belong, namely with the applicant. This way, not all residents of Amsterdam have to pay. We continuously seek ways to work more efficiently and thus reduce costs. We never charge more than we have to incur ourselves to provide fee products and services. The municipality does not make a profit on the fee rates.
