Many Amsterdammers are fighting against racism and other forms of discrimination. Individually, by speaking out when something happens, but also in organizations. These organizations make extra noise during the Week Against Racism. For a week you can participate in various activities.
From March 17 to March 22, the alliance Together Against Racism organizes many activities. These include theater, film, music, spoken word, storytelling, lectures, workshops, and dialogue. All of this leads up to March 21, the International Day Against Racism and Discrimination.
Where will you go?
You can, for example, follow a training on how to deal with racist remarks and conduct difficult conversations. Young people can attend a workshop on racism in schools at the Bijlmerparktheater. In another workshop, you can further explore the relationship between racism and ableism (discrimination against people with disabilities). There are also activities on politics, polarization, sports, refugee issues, and climate racism.
For all activities, visit Week Against Racism 2025 - Pakhuis de Zwijger.
Reporting Discrimination
The Discrimination Reporting Center will be present on location all week to make reporting incidents even easier. Visitors can directly make a report, but also receive information and advice. You can fill out a reporting form and discuss it later. Both victims of discrimination and witnesses can make a report.
You can always contact the reporting center at discriminatie.nl/regioamsterdam.
Speak Out on March 22
The Week Against Racism and Discrimination ends on Saturday, March 22. That day, a national demonstration is planned in Amsterdam. The demonstration starts at 2:00 PM at Dam Square and ends at the Dokwerker at Jonas Daniel Meijerplein. Anyone who wants to can speak out against all forms of discrimination together with others.
For more information about the demonstration, visit National Demonstration Amsterdam Together Against Racism and Fascism - 21maartcomite.
